What’s Your Shade

Welcome to the Prostate Cancer Blue Community (PCBC)

Blue is the color for prostate cancer as pink is for breast cancer. To further PCRI’s longstanding goal of “Working Together for a Cure,”we have launched the Prostate Cancer Blue Community, (PCBC), a website enhancement to promote collaboration and facilitate access to our helpline personal.

The prostate cancer landscape is large and complex because prostate cancer comes in many forms and presents at different stages. However, to paraphrase Descartes, “Large problems are solved by breaking them down into smaller components.” We are presenting prostate cancer as five separate shades of blue.

Published medical studies provide immensely helpful guidance because we can learn through the mistakes and successes of others. However, deciding which studies to apply, like selecting the best tool for a building job, takes experience and skill.  Preselecting quality “tools” and matching them to the types of prostate cancer is an important aspect of the Blue Community.

Good tools facilitate problem solving. But all too frequently people rush to a solution before understanding their specific type of prostate cancer.  The correct treatment for one type of prostate cancer can be totally wrong for another. Therefore, knowing your shade is the first step. Click on the image below to learn more.
