10/26-10/27/96: First International Meeting of PAACT (Patient Advocates for Advanced Cancer Therapies): Recent Advances in Prostate Cancer. Welsh Auditorium, Grand Rapids, Michigan. Attended by more than 1,200 prostate cancer patients and physicians. Dr. Strum planned, coordinated and moderated this symposium.

1997
9/6-9/7/97: Northwest Prostate Cancer Conference: New Dimensions in the Diagnosis, Evaluation & Treatment of Prostate Cancer. University of Washington, Seattle, Washington. This conference center was standing room only with 800 people attending & involved key physicians in the field of prostate cancer. Dr. Strum moderator and speaker.

1999
7/31-8/1/99: First National Conference of the Prostate Cancer Research Institute. Long Beach Convention Center, Long Beach, California. The attendance was 1,420 and represented the largest audience of patients and physicians on prostate cancer. Dr. Strum planned the medical agenda, was moderator and speaker. Dr. Scholz was speaker. 2000
10/13-10/15/2000: 2nd National Conference of PCRI- a Joint Collaboration of PCRI and US TOO, International. The Long Beach Convention Center, Long Beach, California. Invited speakers included Snuffy Myers, David Bostwick, Matthew Rettig, Oliver Sartor, Michael Dattoli, Patrick Kupelian, Michael Steinberg, Jon McDermed and Harry Pinchot. Dr. Strum planned the medical agenda, moderated and spoke.

2002
10/5/2002: Western Regional Conference – a Joint Production of PCRI and the Prostate Institute of America. Norris-Mayer Teaching Center, University of Southern California, Los Angeles, California. The audience included 554 lay people and medical professionals. The conference featured a live demonstration of the Color Doppler and tissue harmonic ultrasound followed by targeted needle biopsies. Speakers included: Drs. Duke Bahn, Marc Botnick, Stan Brosman, Michael Dugan, Mitchell Gross, Samuel Kipper, Richard Lam, Fred Lee, Bob Leibowitz, Leonard Marks, David Quinn, Richard Reisman, Mark Scholz, Stephen Strum, Glen Tisman, and Steven Tucker. Planning of entire conference via PCRI executive director Glenn Weaver, Program Director Harry Pinchot and the PCRI staff.

2003
9/5 – 9/7/2003: 3rd National Conference on Prostate Cancer, a comprehensive approach to living with prostate cancer – a Joint Presentation of PCRI and the Foundation for Cancer Research and Education. Hilton Burbank Airport & Convention Center, Burbank, California. Over 1,000 people attended the conference. The banquet featured exciting talks by Michael Milken and Harry Belafonte. The conference was moderated by Charles “Snuffy” Myers, MD. Speakers included: Drs. Duke Bahn, David Bostwick, Stanley Brosman, Donald Coffey, Michael Dattoli, Mitchell Gross, David Heber, Samuel Kipper, John Kurhanewicz, Richard Lam, Gary Leach, Fred Lee, Bob Leibowitz, Jonathan McDermed, Mark Scholz, Howard Soule and Stephen Strum. Planning of entire conference via PCRI executive director Glenn Weaver, Program Director Harry Pinchot, Dr. Myers and the PCRI-FCRE staffs.

2004
10/9/2004: Western Regional Conference, Prostate Cancer: Dealing with the Issues – a Joint Production of PCRI and the Prostate Institute of America. Norris-Mayer Teaching Center, University of Southern California, Los Angeles, California. The audience included 426 lay people and medical professionals. The conference was moderated by PCRI cofounder Mark Scholz. Speakers included: Drs. Stephen Auerbach, Duke Bahn, Stanley Brosman, Lisa Chaiken, Mark Kawachi, Gary Leach, Glenn Tisman plus Ralph and Barbara Alterowitz. In addition to the main conference, Dr. Scholz and Helpline Facilitator Victor Grimaldo conducted a session for 330 Spanish speaking individuals in another auditorium. 2005
6/16 – 6/19/2005: 4th National Conference on Prostate Cancer, “Exploring New Pathways – Sharing the Journey” – a Joint Presentation of the Foundation for Cancer Research and Education and UsTOO International. Omni-Shoreham Hotel, Washington, DC.Over 800 people attended the conference. The conference was moderated by Charles “Snuffy” Myers, MD. Speakers included: Drs. Duke Bahn, David Bostwick, H. Ballentine Carter, Donald Coffey, Michael Dattoli, Mitchell Gross, Arthur Lurvey, Jonathan McDermed, William Nelson, Oliver Sartor, Howard Scher, Mark Scholz, Bruce Sodee, Stephen Strum, Ashutosh Tewari plus Monica Alexander, Ralph & Barbara Alterowitz, Bill Blair and Ric Masten. PCRI was a conference sponsor. Glenn Weaver, Harry Pinchot, Jim O’Hara, Diana Garnand and Gail Betts were instrumental in conference planning. Harry and Jim produced the program. See details.

2006
In 2006, the PCRI initiated a series of half-day Town Hall Meetings for Patients with Advanced Prostate Cancer patterned after an informal session held at the 2005 National Conference. The meetings each featured a panel of leading Medical Oncologists and Urologists answering questions submitted by 30-50 patients. These were held:

9/9/2006: Regional Conference “Improving Treatment and Quality of Life For Men with Recurrent and Advanced Prostate Cancer”. Over 320 prostate cancer patients, partners and member of the medical community (from 17 states, Canada and Japan) filled the Golden Eagle Ballroom at California State University – Los Angeles. Speakers included: Drs. Glenn Tisman, Duke Bahn, Hossein Jadvar, Mark Scholz, Jacek Pinski, Mitchell Gross, Stanley Brosman, Richard Lam, Karyn Eilber. PCRI produced the conference. Brad Guess, Harry Pinchot, Jim O’Hara, Michele Bendix and Joe Bueno were all instrumental in conference planning and production. See details.
