Joseph ZadroznyRichard Charles “Dick” Hamer. age 66, went to be with his Savior on December 8, 2009, his family by his side at his home in Corpus Christi, TX. ?He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Catherine Hamer. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marilyn, son Richard and his wife Suzette, granddaughter Cassandra, brothers, Robert W. Hamer and his wife Jan of Fenton, MI and William P. Hamer and his wife Anne of S. Deerfield, MA. Dick was born on February 15, 1943 to Charlie & Catherine Hamer. He served in the Air Force from 1961 to 1969. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Oklahoma City University in 1977 and was employed until his retirement from AEP in 2000.

Dick and Marilyn were married in San Antonio, Texas on May 8, 1964. He enjoyed playing tennis, reading, being a grandpa, and serving as a devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Through the years of diagnosis, dashed hopes, medical treatments, and prayers, Dick continued to be positive and brave. He was able to endure much more and for much longer than most with his faith, God’s grace, his loving wife Marilyn’s steadfast support, and the support of his church. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather and for his courage and strength as he battled cancer for 17 years.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Prostate Cancer Research Institute.

With each memorial or “gift in honor” contribution received, an announcement letter will be sent to his son, Richard. The amount given is never indicated in the announcement letter. The donor will also receive an acknowledgment letter. It is PCRI’s policy to acknowledge all memorial and “gift in honor” contributions promptly after receipt.
